Funeral services for Haven V. Mahoy, 65, were held in Darlington. He died in Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis.  He had been ill two months. He was born in Sugar Creek Township and married Hilma C. Crowder in 1931 at Advance. He was a farmer and county highway worker. He was educated at Bowers School and was a member of Potato Creek Church. He drove a Bowers school bus for 20 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Conservation Club. Surviving with the widow are six children, Mrs. Ellen McBee of Linden, Richard A. Mahoy of Needham, Mass and John David, Carol and Joann Mahoy at home; a brother, Willard and sister, Mrs. Everett Vannice of Darlington.

Darlington – Haven V. Mahoy, 65, farmer and county highway worker died at Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis at 10:30 a.m. Friday. He lived on Rt 1, Darlington in Sugar Creek Township. Born Aug 11, 1901, he was the son of George and Margaret Baer Mahoy. He was married Jan 6, 1931 at Advance to Hilma C. Crowder. Mahoy was educated in the former Potato Creek and Bowers Schools. He belonged to the Potato Creek Church which was abandoned last spring and was a member of the Come-Join-Us Class. For 20 years Mahoy was a bus driver for the Bowers School. He belonged to the Darlington Masonic Lodge and the Darlington Conservation Club. The survivors include the widow, six children: Mrs. Ellen McBee of Linden; Richard A. Mahoy of Needham, Mass and John, David, Carol and Joann Mahoy all at home; a brother, Willard Mahoy of near Darlington; a sister, Mrs. Everett Vannice of near Darlington and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a son, James Mahoy. Funeral services will be conducted at Bright Funeral Home in Darlington at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. AL Vermillion officiating.
